As summer is approaching, we wanted to share with you some handy tips to help you make the most of your time in Sunny Beach!
Food & Drink
Sunny Beach offers plenty of bars and restaurants. Dining or drinking in the center tends to be more expensive due to the prime location and often live entertainment. Venturing outside the central area, you’ll find cheaper options. A local beer typically costs around 1.50 EUR (approximately £1.30) – a bargain for a refreshing, cold drink!
Wine lovers should definitely sample Bulgarian wines, particularly the reds, as Bulgaria has a long tradition of cultivating quality grape varieties and producing excellent wines. Water
Tap water in Bulgaria is safe to drink thanks to its natural resources. However, many still prefer bottled water.
The Beach
Sunny Beach boasts an 8-kilometer stretch of golden sand. When choosing a spot, keep in mind that the price for parasols and sunbeds varies depending on your location — it's pricier near the center. Make sure you’re satisfied with the spot and price before settling in. Alternatively, you can enjoy the designated 'free zones' by simply laying your towel on the sand at no cost.
Using ATMs
For cash withdrawals, it’s best to use ATMs located inside banks in central Sunny Beach. Fi Bank and Co-op Bank on Flower Street are recommended for their fair exchange rates. Avoid using independent ATMs scattered around, as they tend to charge higher rates.
Currency Exchange
It’s safest to exchange money at your hotel’s currency exchange desk. You can also use banks (passport required) or reliable "Crown" exchange booths. Never exchange money with individuals on the street, no matter how good the deal sounds.

Currently, £1 equals roughly 1.15 EUR.
Taxis
Taxis operate around the clock. Always agree on the fare before you hop in. If the price seems high, politely decline and try another cab. Many hotels offer fixed-rate taxi services for specific routes like Sunny Beach to Nessebar Old Town or to Saint Vlas, which are trustworthy and stress-free.
Tipping
Tipping is optional but appreciated in Bulgaria.
Toilets
Expect to pay a small fee to use public restrooms.
